Today's Devotion

"The grass withereth, the
flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for
ever."
Isaiah 40:8
Today's Thoughts
The Wycliffe Bible Commentary
says, "Taken by himself, man is tragically frail and
transient, and his beauty soon fades. His life is devoid of
real dignity or meaning. But the eternal and infallible Word
of God invests believing mankind with imperishable
significance and glory."
Think about it for a moment . .
. there is nothing that compares to the power of the Word of
God. Man is frail, his life is merely a whisper in eternity .
. . the strongest, healthiest, and most prosperous are no
different than the rest of us for they will also be overtaken
by the frailty of mankind. Not a word spoken, not a promise
made, not a contract written can compare to the authority and
integrity of the Word of God! The only significance mankind
may ever have is given to him through the Word . . . the
infallible, living, power-packed Word of God!
Throughout history we have seen
kingdoms lose their power and vanish . . .
we have seen cities fall . . . strong nations have lost their
power and become nearly insignificant. But throughout all
this, God doesn't change. He is in the midst of all the wars
and struggles, and is yet unchanged. Not one of His promises
will ever fail. His Word WILL prevail regardless of what
things look like to us!
The Word of God . . . does it
have pre-eminence in your life? Is it what you cling to when
you're in trouble? Is it where you run to when you are in
need? Is it your meditation day and night? Is it the standard
for your life?
We can all find areas where
we're neglecting the Word of God by not allowing it to have
its way in our life, molding us and making us into vessels of
honor for Him! Give the Word priority in your life in your
home . . . you'll be glad you did!
Today's Prayer
Father, it seems as though I'm always coming to you for
forgiveness . . . here I am again! Lord, forgive me for not
giving Your Word top priority in my life. When I have a
question, I look for the phone . . . when looking for advice,
I find a book on the subject . . . all the while I should go
directly to Your Word and expect an answer through
fellowshipping with You in it! Lord, in comparison to You . .
. to Your Word . . . to all that You are, I am but a mere
whisper. And, without You, I am totally nothing! You are my
strength, O God . . . You are my help, O God . . . You are the
One in whom I trust! You are my Shield, O God . . . my life I
yield, O God . . . You will always be my All in All! Amen!
