"What? came the word of
God out from you? or came it unto you
only?" (1 Corinthians 14:36)
TODAY'S THOUGHT
We are instructed in 2 Timothy 4:2 to "Preach the word; be
instant in
season, out of season..." In other words, we cannot
just receive the Word . . . we have to give it out!
God has created us to be a vessel He can flow through! If we
take and take and take in the Word of God and do not give it back
out, we get back-logged and the Word which was put in us will
eventually become stale. Much like a pond with no outlet . .
. water will refill it when it rains, but if there is no where for
the water to flow to, it eventually stagnates and is unfit for
consumption.
It is so easy to sit under wonder Bible teaching and preaching,
learning the golden truths from the Word of God . . . it is great
to listen to tapes,
watch video tapes of sermons . . . but if you don't do something
with what you have learned, if the Word doesn't soon flow back out
of you, you will become like that pond with no outlet!
Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly in all
wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns
and
spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the
Lord." Paul is
reminding us that the Word needs to dwell in us richly . . . but
that we
need to use it to teach and admonish one another, whether through
psalms or hymns or spiritual songs . . . whatever way we can,
whenever we can, to whomever we can!
Are you a stagnant pond or a fresh-flowing river? Let the
Word of God flow through you and splash onto all with whom you
come in contact! You will not only bless them, but you also
will be blessed beyond measure! Make a conscious effort to
speak the Word . . . share the Word . . . testify of His goodness
according to His Word! You, as a vessel, will become
vibrant, fresh, pure, clean, and alive . . . the way He intended
it to be!
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I have to admit that sometimes it's hard for me to share
Your Word with people . . . I have neglected Your leading to open
my mouth many times because I feared that I wouldn't know what to
say or how to respond if people ask me questions! Lord,
forgive me for not allowing Your Word to flow through me as you
intended . . . help me to be that vessel through which You can
flow . . . help me to become fresh, vibrant, pure, clean, and
alive with the freshness of Your Word as it flows through me to
all with whom I have contact! I love You, Lord, and I want
everyone to know what an Awesome God I serve! I will do my
best to open my mouth from this day forward . . . Lord, fill it
with Your truth! Amen!
